Are AI ads a form of false advertising?
No. Advertising rules target what you claim, not which tool produced the image. An AI-generated ad is lawful as long as the product, the price and the promise are true. Some platforms additionally ask you to label synthetic content. Truthfulness is the whole test.
The claim is what counts
If an ad says the product does something it does not, the problem is the statement, not the generator. Keep every sentence verifiable from your own product, remove anything you cannot prove, and never borrow a figure invented by a model. A model will happily complete a sentence with a figure it made up, and it will not tell you.
Avoid misleading renders
A generated scene that shows an accessory, a size, a quantity or a result you do not actually sell can mislead, even without intention. Show the real product and stay close to what a customer receives when the order arrives. If the render adds an accessory you do not ship, either remove it from the image or sell it.
Check each platform's rules
Several networks now require a disclosure on synthetic or AI-modified media, and the wording differs from one to another. Read the policy of every platform you publish on, and keep a record of the claims you made. This is general information, never legal advice. When in doubt, label the content and keep the claim small enough to defend.
